Marasmus are a five-piece Death Metal band from Kansas City, Missouri. Their first two LP’s, “Mountains of Dead,” (2012) and “Conjuring Enormity,” (2015) are brilliantly merciless chunks of old school Death Metal in the vein of Suffocation and Deicide, and what you’re about to discover is that these dudes are still not in the business of mercy.
The band has found a new home at Transcending Obscurity Records, who were kind enough to give us all an early listen to a track from Marasmus’s upcoming album, “Necrotic Overlord”. So, sit back and turn this fucker up, folks! For the first time ever, anywhere we proudly present… “Ectoplasmic Violation”!
Everything about this song kicks ass. The guitar work by Brandon Culligan and Andy Nagorski is ferocious, Trynt Kelly’s drumming is crushing in perpetuity, and Devon Ferrera’s vocal delivery is a devilish, growling controlled madness. It’s as melodic as it is pulverizing, and as graceful as it is violent. Everything there is to love about Death Metal in a single three minute package, with an old school vibe, not unlike Morbid Angel, Nile, or Immolation. Just a fantastic listening experience, and one that we can assure you most certainly extends to the rest of the album!
So there you have it. Some of the most feral and downright vicious Death Metal to grace your ears in the beginning of what looks to be an absolute belter of a year for the label, so strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride we say! This glorious beast of an album will be available on the 26th of March, and pre-orders are available right bloody now! Hell yes!
