Rogga Johansson is a man that needs no introduction. We managed to interview the busiest man in Heavy Metal last year (https://themetalwanderlust.com/2019/10/04/interview-paganizer/), and are now truly honoured to bring you our first ever full album premiere of his band Revolting‘s latest effort, “The Shadow at the World’s End.”
This year has been no different for him on a work scale. After nine releases from acts like Johansson & Speckmann and Megascavanger among others, Rogga and co. are geared up and ready to go for this one, with “The Shadow At The World’s End” being there seventh full release since they began in 2008. So without further ado, feast your ears upon the madness within!
From the very first track “Defleshed” it is evident that Revolting are not trying to reinvent Death Metal in any way shape or form. No, they have no need to, rather Rogga and the rest of the band just continue to refine their art, throwing out what to them seems unnecessary and just concentrating on delivering what we all love most about the genre. On this one as with most of their work, they hit the (HM-2) pedal from the get go and set an unrelenting pace over the nine tracks on offer, blending melodic guitars, flawless bass, Rogga’s trademark growl and some utterly superb drumming with razor sharp hooks that will keep fans coming back for more. Death Metal superiority of the highest order, what more can be said.
Long time fans will not be disappointed with “The Shadow At The World,” and for those who have yet to experience the sheer monstrosity that is Revolting, oh man are you in for a treat. Pretty sure you will find this album popping up somewhere among many a best of list come years end, so go on, hit that play button and find out why! Many thanks as always to Transcending Obscurity Records for the excellence! Oh yeah, and it’s out today!
