Album Review: Uncivilized – Pounder

LONG TIMMMMEEEE, LONG TIME, NO LOOoooOoooVVEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Ahh, had to get that out of my system. Oh hi there. ThatAstronautGuy is fucking back and better than ever here at The Metal Wanderlust castle! It’s been a while since I’ve seen your beautiful faces but man, do I have a fucking treat for you! Do you like Exhumed, Gruesome, Carcass, and Nausea? Well throw that all out of the fucking window and turn on Pounder! Just a NWOBHM band featuring members of the bands I mentioned in the last sentence! Matt Harvey, Tom Draper, and Alejandro Corredor have all come together to just make a KICK FUCKING ASS HEAVY METAL RECORD!! I seriously can’t get enough of it. So addictive and catchy.

We start this gem with a subtly titled song, “Fuck off and Die” and i’m pretty sure you can figure out what the song is all about. Starting with a dual guitar harmony straight into the riffs to get it going, this song is in your face the whole time with soaring vocals from the mighty Matt Harvey who seems to be the man who can do literally everything. Including making a song that Sylvester Stallone should be fighting to in the next Rambo movie.

Red Hot leather, heart is so cold! HEART IS COLD’, ahh man, the lyrics to this are just so good!! Track 3, “Red Hot Leather” starts with a scorching guitar riff right into the singing and again I want to see Stallone walk in to a musky bar looking at the love interest of the movie while this song plays.

Starting with the first ballad on the record, “Long Time, No Love” an acoustic guitar starts the mood off right that puts you in front of a bar getting your last shot of bourbon while a storm rages outside and all you can think about is your mistakes. ‘I‘d take it all back, just to be with you, ONE MORE DAYYYAA’ ahh that’s the stuff, you say as you down drink after drink.

I could honestly go on about this record all day but i’ll let you see for yourself how damn fine it is. It’s by far been my most listened to album this year and I don’t see that slowing down anytime soon. It has everything a Heavy Metal fan would want, thick riffs, blazing solos, slow ballads, and great vocals. I’m giving this one a perfect score and you should buy it!

Rating – 5/5
