The ringing of steel swords clanking on a bloody battlefield, men gathered around eyes ablaze.. paints quite a nice image yes? Well maybe this isn’t what you fancy but it is sure to be a staple in your brain after listening to the second full length album Conqueror’s Oath by the mighty Visigoth. Get your armor and leather ready because you are in for one epic ride!
Hailing from Salt Lake City Utah these fine group of gentlemen have set forth to pave the road for Heavy Metal fans delivering their strongest release to date, and one that is sure to please both the old and new generation. If you are familiar with Visigoth their 2015 album The Revenant King created a stir in the underground and these iron clad warriors soon found themselves with quite the following. With The Revenant King under their belts acting as a stepping stone enter Conqueror’s Oath a slab of highly infectious catchy songs seeing a maturity in the band as a whole.
Vocalist Jake Rogers is supremely talented and he knows how to deliver his craft in perfect harmony with the music offering his presence on a golden pedestal while axe weilders Jamison Palmer and Leeland Campana deliver the melodies, harmonies, and solos that will make the heads of your enemies roll! Bassist Matt Brotherton and Drummer Mikey T. work together to bring the low end and war drums of the onslaught to life.
Taken from the pages of history the songs are a journey and one that I am confident will be taken for a long time. The opening track Steel and Silver set the tone while Outlive Them All is a power anthem that will make you raise your fists to the sky. Traitor’s Gate seeps with vengeance and Salt City pays homage to the band’s hometown of Salt Lake City and it is a fun little interlude between the prominent lyrical content of battles and war.
Visigoth are here to prove a point and make their mark. Still early in 2018 Conqueror’s Oath is already a contender for year end lists and so far one of the strongest releases of the new year.
